Chartier, Bucs win SoCon golf title in style | Sports
GREENSBORO, Ga. — Remi Chartier and the East Tennessee State men’s golf crew shut the deal Sunday and they did it in dominating fashion.
Chartier capped his Southern Conference Match unique championship with a 7-less than-par 65 at Reynolds Lake Oconee course and the Bucs captured the crew title by 21 strokes.
The sixth event championship for ETSU under mentor Jake Amos came with a university record.
The Bucs’ 39-underneath staff whole broke the university mark of 38 beneath from the 2021 Stitch Intercollegiate. They capped their 22nd SoCon title by capturing 18 below in the last round.
Chartier, who finished 18 under for 3 rounds, is the Bucs’ 17th SoCon unique champ and third in a row. The sophomore from Montreal entered the last spherical with a significant direct following breaking the SoCon Event record with a 9-below 63. That round, which included 10 birdies and a person bogey, tied the ETSU history.
Chartier performed the 54 holes with 20 birdies and two bogey, and his functionality was a single for the history publications as nicely. His 198 whole tied Seamus Power’s college report established in 2008 at the Jerry Pate Nationwide Intercollegiate, and his 18-below overall conquer Gudmund Kristjansson’s 17 below from the Seminole Intercollegiate in 2015.
