Tameka Jones, who grew up in St. Paul’s Rondo neighborhood, was a makeup artist for additional than 20 decades when she was furloughed due to the COVID-19 pandemic. 

But which is when she took her destiny into her have hands, and her dream of launching her possess cosmetics company turned a fact. She took all her cost savings to make her individual line of lipsticks, called Lip Esteem. And irrespective of the pandemic and persons putting on masks, she identified a lot results at area pop-up functions that she opened her own retailer in the Rondo neighborhood on Friday afternoon.

She grew up in Rondo and saw a thriving group of Black business enterprise homeowners, and she preferred to be element of the revitalization initiatives occurring in the neighborhood.

Jones hopes to mature the cosmetic line to involve eyeshadow, mascara and far more.
